In the Echoes section, the first two episodes of the RTP series "Capitães do Açúcar”, which depicts a group of young students of the Fine Arts of Porto, who engage in a scheme of production and distribution of a psychotropic substance called Sugar will also be shown.

INDUSTRY PROGRAM

This year, FEST — Training Ground organises an eclectic selection of masterclasses, with confirmed presences from filmmaker Isabel Coixet, writer Irvine Welsh, screenwriter Tony Grisoni, film consultant Dörte Schneider, film director Tetsuo Nagata, and sound editor Eddy Joseph, as well as thematic days that look at the present and future of the film industry. Highlight also for Virtual Production Day, which will be attended by Epic Games producer Nancy Xu and Glassbox Technologies executive producer Johannes Wilkes, who will lead masterclasses dedicated to Production Virtual; and for the day dedicated to Representation and Actor/Relation, which already has the confirmations of casting director Nancy Bishop and acting manager Caprice Crawford.

In 2021, FEST — Pitching Forum will take place in online format. This new format will allow the presence of a wider panel of experts, as well as a global audience, increasing the possibilities for projects to be seen by important experts who would otherwise not be able to travel to Espinho for the physical event. Each participant will have 5 minutes to submit their project to the jury and a panel of international experts. Each presentation is followed by a 5-minute Q & A between the participant, the jury and the panel. Prizes will be decided by the jury after all finished pitches — winners announced during the event. Highlight also the return of Industry Meetings, which will provide the festival’s accredited with an unparalleled platform of individual meetings among film industry professionals present at the festival. In 2021, Industry Meetings will take place in hybrid format, bringing together the speakers and guests present at the festival with stakeholders around the world, through an online platform.
